Nancy Reed Kulsar of Sparta, N.J., died peacefully at home Jan. 6, 2021, in Sparta.

She graduated from Franklin High School in 1956, continued her education at Bloomfield College, and graduated as a licensed Registered Nurse.

While in high school she met her husband, William (Bill) Kulsar, and they married in 1959. She was employed as an R.N. in Paterson General Hospital until 1961. Nancy and Bill then moved to Sparta, she relocated to Newton Memorial Hospital. She worked there until 1964 upon the birth of her daughter Lisa Kulsar (Trusa). Then, her two sons David Kulsar in 1966 and Richard Kulsar 1967. Nancy devoted her life to her family and caring for others.

In high school she raised three German shepherd puppies for the Seeing Eye in Morristown, N.J. She adopted a male German shepherd that was not able to be trained as a guide dog, who became a permanent companion to the Kulsar family. Nancy was also a member of the D.A.R. and the First Presbyterian Church of Sparta. She was a member of two book clubs and a theater club. An avid reader, Nancy enjoyed going to Broadway shows in New York and the Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, N.J.

Her true love and passion was spending quality time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling across the United States and throughout Europe. Nancy spent endless hours watching her children and grandchildren’s sporting events, school concerts, and dance recitals. Because of her dedication and loving heart, she was known affectionately as “Grammy” by many.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Nellie Reed; and her granddaughter Haley Grace Kulsar.

Nancy is survived by her husband Bill Kulsar, her daughter Lisa and her husband, Jim; her son David and his wife, Karin, and her son Richard and his wife Denise. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Nikki and Kristin Trusa and David Jr. and Marin Kulsar.

Funeral arrangements are by Goble Funeral Home in Sparta. Due to the pandemic there will be a private, invitation-only service with a public celebration of her life later in the year.
