Shirley E. Turse of Unionville, N.Y., peacefully passed away on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, at her residence while surrounded by her loving family. She was 83.

Born in Paterson, N.J., to the late Herbert and Marguerite (Crum) Whritenour, Mrs. Turse had lived in West Milford, N.J., and has been a resident of Unionville for the past 52 years. She had been employed by the former American Silk Label in Unionville for 17 years before its closing.

Mrs. Turse had been a class aide for Orange Ulster Boces in Goshen, New York and retired from the Minisink Valley School System as a bus aide, where she worked for 20 years. She was a dedicated member to Our Lady of Scapular R.C. Church in Unionville until its recent closing.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Robert P. Turse Sr., in 1999; her son, Robert P. Turse Jr. in 2014; her siblings, Kathleen Mebey and her husband, Charles, Raymond Joseph Whritenour and his wife, Jacqueline, Wedgard “Ed’ Herbert Whritenour and his wife, Cathy, Annabelle “Pat” Conway and her husband, Harvey, Rose Stalter and her husband, Robert, Genevieve “Jean” Gray and her husband, Edward, Theresa Doris “Dot” Lamy and her husband, Joseph, Joan Ezzo and her husband, Angelo, and Ronald “Don” Whritenour.

Mrs. Turse is survived by her only daughter, Patricia of Unionville; sons, Paul of Unionville, New York, Keith and his companion Kathy of Sparrowbush, New York and Raymond and his companion Lisa of Middletown, New York; her daughter-in-law, Maude and her children, Chris and Jamie Padgett, Pam Grau, and Cindy Strunk; her sisters, Carol Van Splinter of Passaic, N.J., and Mary Decker and her husband, George of Butler, N.J.; her sister-in-law, Catherine of Marathon, N.Y.; five grandchildren, Keith Jr., Kyle, Justin, Ryan, and Kristen; many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Oct. 13 at the Pinkel Funeral Home, Sussex, N.J., followed by services in the funeral home and interment at North Hardyston Cemetery.
