Sparta law firm Askin & Hooker will host a Free Seminar that will address how to file an NJ Property Tax Appeal on Feb. 13, 2019, at 6 p.m. at Train Creative in Sparta.
Real Estate Attorney William Askin will teach the basics of how to file a property tax appeal in NJ as well as the everything you need to know involving the process or reassessment and appeals.
"Property taxes are the result of the local budget process and cannot be appealed, but your property’s assessment may be," states Askin. "A taxpayer considering an appeal should understand that you must prove that his/her assessed value is unreasonable compared to a market value standard."
Askin has more than 25 years’ experience practicing Real Property Law, Wills, Trusts, Estates, and Elder Law. His practice is primarily focused on the legal rights and issues related to the acquisition, ownership, development, improvement, and sale of real property.
    The seminar will cover:
The basis of an NJ property tax assessment
How to know if an assessment is fair?
The NJ Property Tax Appeal Hearing Process
Good evidence to present for property tax reassessment
    Special rules for commercial properties
Plan to join us on Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 6 p.m. at Train Creative, 30 Station Road, Sparta, NJ 07871.
The seminar is free, RSVP by calling 973-729-7711 or registering at https://www.traincreative.org/events/356.
