Ava Mazzarella, a sophomore at Sparta High School and an all star cheerleader from Central Jersey Allstars in Kenilworth, took home the title of World Champion at the prestigious 2021 USASF Cheerleading Worlds held in Orlando, Fla., earlier this month.

Ava’s Senior Open Level 6 all girl team, The Bombshells, was one of a select few teams from New Jersey that earned a coveted chance to compete in this world championship. More than 10,000 cheerleaders from around the country traveled to Orlando for a fighting chance to win the title of world champion.

Ava and her teammates had an amazing first day performance. Out of 17 competitive teams in their level 6, open division, Ava’s team placed second, just 0.6 of a point behind the first place team, Miss Hiss out of Texas’ Stars Vipers San Antonio, advancing them to the finals on Day 2.

After another fantastic performance and “Hitting Zero” deductions, The Bombshells propelled themselves from second to first place, earning an incredible score of 141.1 out of 150 eligible points, and a four-point lead over Miss Hiss, solidifying the title of World Champions in their division.

Their high-scoring routine, also ranked The Bombshells 12th out of all 514 teams that competed at this year’s Cheerleading Worlds.

Due to Covid restrictions, only immediate family and friends from her Central Jersey Allstar gym were allowed to watch in person at the ESPN’s Wide World of Sports complex. However, thousands of fans and supporters had the opportunity to watch Ava and her teammates perform during live coverage of the competition through FloCheer.com and were able to keep up-to-date via social media @The_CheerWorlds and @CheerUPDATES on Twitter.
