The Byram Township Police Department was investigating a dispute in which one of the involved parties had left the scene. The officers were looking for the involved party when they received information that he may be at the residence of Joseph D. Hill on Braemar Court. One of the officers pulled into the driveway of Hill’s residence and exited his patrol vehicle. At this time, Joseph D. Hill, who appeared to be intoxicated, ran toward the officer, screaming at him, and made physical contact with the officer. The officer pushed Hill backward. Hill approached the officer and contacted him again. The officer than arrested Hill, who resisted being handcuffed during the arrest, and then resisted being placed in the back of the patrol vehicle. Hill was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and consumption of an alcoholic beverage on private property (local ordinance). He was released pending an Andover-Joint Municipal Court date

A Byram Township Police Officer was investigating a suspicious vehicle parked in the rear of the Sussex Branch Trail parking lot on Waterloo Road. While the officer was speaking to the driver of the vehicle, Kevin Faria of Newark, the officer smelled the odor of raw marijuana coming from inside of the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle produced a quantity of marijuana. Faria was arrested, transported to the station for processing, and charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana. Faria was then released to a friend pending a mandatory Andover-Joint Municipal Court date.

The Byram Township Police Department received a call about a motor vehicle crash on Sleepy Hollow Road. When patrols arrived, they spoke to the driver of the vehicle, Steven G. Rabe of Byram Township. Rabe, who appeared to be intoxicated, was asked to perform several field sobriety tests, which he failed. Rabe was arrested and transported to a neighboring town’s police station, where he consented to and failed two breath tests. Rabe was issued the following summonses and released to a family member pending a mandatory Andover-Joint Municipal Court date: driving while intoxicated, underage driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right, and careless driving.
