VERNON — Over the last few months, the Vernon Township High School DECA chapter has gone throughout their school district bringing hunger and homelessness awareness to the community via Project Kind. Students of Lounsberry Hollow School and Cedar Mountain Primary School helped by decorating lunch bags with words of hope and positive messages. Rolling Hill’s peanut butter and jelly drive provided a supply of ingredients to Vernon’s High School DECA chapter students who spent time making over 500 sandwiches. All sandwiches will be donated behind Penn Station in New York City. As a district, many faculty and staff participated in a Denim Day Fundraiser for this worthwhile cause. Project Kind, based out of Rockaway, is an organization dedicated to creating opportunities and support to the homeless and spreading awareness regarding hunger in America. Jenny DePaul, founder of Project Kind, has helped the students throughout their campaign. For more information, or ways to help out, please visit www.projectkind123.org.
