NAMI to hold 'Family Connections' course

NEWTON — The National Education Alliance for Borderline Personality Disorder provides a 12-week course called "Family Connections" to assist family members of loved ones with Borderline Personality Disorder.
This research-based course provides skills training based on Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. The course will be available for the first time to families in the Sussex County area beginning on Sunday, Feb. 24, sponsored by NAMI Sussex. Family members will receive education on the latest Borderline Personality Disorder research, relationship mindfulness, effective communication skills and problem-solving strategies. In addition, families will benefit from developing a support network. The course is not open to people who suffer from BPD, only to family members and close friends.
The Sussex County Family Connections class will be held on Sunday evenings, 6:30-8:30 p.m., at the Unitarian Fellowship Hall, 1 West Nelson Street, in Newton, from Feb. 24 through May 19. Participants are expected to attend all 12 class sessions. Space is limited and registration is first come, first serve. The class is free, but a voluntary $50 donation is requested. No one will be turned away for financial reasons.
