Program to explore how suicide can be prevented

NEWTON. Participants will learn the common risk factors for suicide, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep themselves, their loved ones, and those in the community safe.

    Suicide can be prevented. On Monday, Sept. 16, NAMI Sussex will host a program provided by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to explain how. The program, titled “Talk Saves Lives: A Brief Introduction to Suicide Prevention,” will be held at Bridgeway, 93 Stickles Pond Rd. in Newton beginning at 7 p.m.

    This presentation will cover what experts know about this leading cause of death, the most up-to-date research on prevention, and what everyone can do to help fight suicide. Participants will learn the common risk factors for suicide, how to spot the warning signs in others, and how to keep themselves, their loved ones, and those in the community safe.
