The Skylands Sierra Club will offer another "Edible Wild Plants Hike" on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m.

It will start and end at Angry Erik Brewing, 2 Camre Drive, Hampton Twp., and continue along the Paulinskill Rail Trail Loop. The hike will be led by Heather Housekeeper, long distance hiker, certified herbalist, and published author. A donation of $25 is suggested, which includes a pint of beer at the end of the hike.

This easy hike will include lots of stopping to examine wild edible plants along the way. Heather will identify and describe each plant in detail, giving you the knowledge to find these plants on your own walks, or maybe in your lawn. Some of the plants she will identify have medicinal properties. Participants are encouraged to bring cameras and notebooks.

Housekeeper has authored two books about edible plants, A Guide to the Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Mountains to Sea Trail, and A Guide to the Edible and Medicinal Plants of the Finger Lakes Trail.
