Vernon DECA plans turkey dinner

Vernon. Vernon Township High School DECA club will sponsor the 21st annual turkey dinner to benefit Harvest House.

The 21st annual Turkey Dinner Fundraiser will again be sponsored by the Vernon Township High School DECA club with DECA students acting as servers for the dinner.

The dinner resembles a pre-Thanksgiving feast on Oct. 19, complete with fresh cooked turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggies and dinner rolls and a massive table of desserts. All proceeds will be donated to Harvest House’s Community Lunch in hopes of raising awareness of food insecurity in Sussex County. Harvest House serves 50 to 60 men, women and children a midday, nutritious meal from Monday through Friday.

Numerous volunteers and local businesses are lending a hand to make the dinner a great success. Food is donated by Friends of Harvest House. Our Lady of Fatima and St. Francis de Sales churches store the frozen turkeys. Volunteers cook the turkeys. Pochuck Valley Farms will provide the seasonal cider. Highland Flowers will donate a dessert table centerpiece and Kuperus Farmside Gardens will donate mums for each table. Sodexo Food Service will serve up the dinner rolls.

There will be live music by Tom Toms will entertain the diners.

The turkey dinner happens on October 19 from 4 to 7 pm at the Vernon Township High School Cafeteria. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Adults- $12.00 Children and Seniors- $8.00 and a family of four- $25.00.
