Vernon Rotary Club delivers hundreds of dictionaries

Vernon. Every October, the Vernon Rotary Club delivers hundreds of dictionaries to local third graders. The project chair, Dr. Pat Yaccarino, usually hands books directly to each student. But because of COVID-19, he was met outside the front entrance of Rolling Hills Primary School by the principal, Dr. Stewart Stumper. The cases of dictionaries were then taken to classrooms, where each child selected a book from the box. For more than 20 years, approximately 7,000 books have been donated by the Vernon Rotary. “We hope many of you, now older, can remember receiving yours!” said RoseMary Polhemus, Vernon Rotary president.
