The Sparta High School XC/Track & Field Booster Club will host a virtual 5K fundraiser beginning May 1.

One hundred percent of the registration fees will go towards 2020-21 scholarships for graduating senior athletes on the high school’s cross country and track and field teams. The registration fee is $20, which includes a tee-shirt (for the first 300 registrants).

Runners or walkers can complete their run anytime between May 1 and 9.

“You run or walk where you want, when you want — a local street, your favorite park, wherever you happen to be,” said Jenny Clancy, event co-chair for the Boosters. “All we ask is that you please remember to observe CDC guidelines for CV-19 social distancing.”

Registration is now open through April 25. Register on the team’s Facebook page at facebook.com/spartatrack.boosterclub.7 or, by using the Google form at forms.gle/79C1yT93CmWgnSpaA.

Participants may track their progress using apps like RunGo, Stravia, or MapMyWalk, then post a photo in their tee-shirt on the team’s Facebook page.

Payment Information is available on the registration form.

“None of this would be possible without the support from our sponsors: Cardinal Financial company, Educated Home Inspections, Nicholas Nicosia, Reliant Title and the Real Deal Real Estate Team. We are so grateful to them for their support,” said Coach Pisano. “We hope to see tons of runners/walkers out there supporting our kids.”
