The “sweetest” task undertaken each year by the Vernon Township Woman's Club is undoubtedly the winter Cookie Project.

Every February, club members demonstrate kindness and generosity by baking batches of their favorite cookies simply to give them all away to residents of The Homestead Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Newton.

This year, the ladies packed more than 2,000 homemade cookies into 169 Valentine’s Day goodie bags, making sure to include dozens of sugar-free and gluten-free varieties for individuals with special dietary needs.

The Cookie Project is just one of many community service activities sponsored by the Woman’s Club in its commitment to make the world a brighter place, one project at a time.
