VERNON — Every year, the Vernon Township Woman’s Club ensures that local victims of domestic abuse will have some cheerful moments during the holidays. This year was no different, with nearly 400 gifts being delivered to 49 residents of the DASI shelter so their Christmas morning could be full of wonder. After obtaining the ages and genders of all the children and adults in the shelter, the club members shifted into overdrive and went shopping for every individual on the list. They purchased age-appropriate toys, clothing, gift cards and other items for the abuse victims. Shopping was followed by a wrapping frenzy, transforming the gifts into beautiful packages worthy of Santa’s sleigh. The presents were delivered to DASI's main office and transported by the agency's staff to the shelter in time for Christmas morning.
