On Wednesday, August 28, 2019, U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer called for the federal government to invest in the Gateway Project and Portal Bridge.

Gottheimer joined U.S. Reps. Frank Pallone, Bill Pascrell, Albio Sires, Tom Malinowski, Mikie Sherrill, NJ Governor Phil Murphy, Senate President Steve Sweeney, Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg, and Gateway Development Corporation CEO Jerry Zaro at the Secaucus Junction Train Station.

"The reason we’re here today is because we’re all frustrated by the lack of movement on what is hands down the most important infrastructure project in the country,” said U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer.

“We know that infrastructure investment gives one of the best returns on investment out there and this is a project that is ready to go right now," Gottheimer said. "Jersey has held up our end of the bargain, now we need the Administration to hold up theirs. Hundreds of thousands of commuters depend on these tunnels and bridges to get to work, so they can provide for their families."
