Scariest costume

Sparta Pet Shoppe and Spa owner Lynn Krandall poses with Sparta resident Mary Somma and Mary’s dog, Chloe, a Sealyham. Chloe won a $50 gift certificate for “scariest costume” during the first annual Sparta Pet Shoppe and Spa Halloween Party, Parade and Costume Contest. Princess (not pictured), a Shihtzu, took top prize, a $75 gift certificate for “overall best costume,” dressed as Minnie Mouse. The Upper Lake Plaza Promenade was decorated for the event with spider webs, pumpkins, and grave stones. Scary music played in the background while dogs and their owners enjoyed snacks and treats. Contest winners were chosen by the parade attendees. (Photo provided)
