Workshop to support healthy, happy and positive behaviors
VERNON — The most current research shows that promoting mental health and preventing substance abuse is best initiated in the earliest years of childhood. One of the best ways to set the stage for prevention of any unhealthy habits is to build up many of the skills that support healthy, happy and positive behaviors.
The Center for Prevention and Counseling will be offering a free workshop, "Building a Better Me" on Friday, May 17 from noon until 1 p.m. to help parents and their children, ages four to five years old, gain the abilities they need to thrive.
This interactive class is a special condensed presentation of an evidence-based program to support awareness for National Prevention Week where communities are coming together around the country to focus on the importance of weaving prevention into all aspects of our lives.
This health observance week recognizes that the prevention of substance abuse and promotion of mental health starts with the choices people make each day, every day and that even the youngest generations can learn protective factors to help keep them safe, healthy and happy.
RSVP promptly as space is limited for this workshop for a parent or grandparent and their four or five year old child. A kid-friendly lunch will be provided.
