Joseph Michael Sulsona

Joseph Michael Sulsona of Ringwood, N.J., passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, at Chilton Medical Center, Pequannock Township, N.J. He was 85.

Born to Louis and Louisa Sulsona in New York, N.Y, he was raised in the city before moving to Ringwood 48 years ago.

Joseph served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War 1953-57 and then worked as a supervisor and computer operator for Columbia University in New York City for many years, retiring in 2001. Joseph enjoyed coin and stamp collecting and World War II history, and was a New York Yankees fan. He was dedicated to his country and family. He is best remembered as a doting husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Joseph is predeceased by his brothers, Joaquim and David; and a sister, Miriam.

He is the beloved husband for 61 years of Elsie Sulsona (nee Rosado); devoted father of Michael K. Sulsona and his wife, Teresa, of Butler, N.J., Joseph A. Sulsona of Ringwood, N.J., and Donna M. Sulsona of Vernon Township, N.J.; loving grandfather of Sara, Michael, David, and Dina; cherished great-grandfather of Amira; dear brother of Candida Frybergh of Long Island, N.Y., and Mary Lucy Sulsona of North Carolina.

Visitation will be held at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 27. Due to government restrictions, a total of 105 people will be allowed in the funeral home at any one time. A memorial service will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Cremation was private.
