Reclaim and Restore celebrates first anniversary

Its mission is to recycle used and abandoned furniture.

On Wednesday, Aug. 15, members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined owner Cindy Tappan, her husband Enrique, and business associates, to celebrate the first anniversary of Reclaim and Restore furniture store in Merchant Square.

Reclaim & Restore, 24 Ronald Reagan Blvd., just off Kings Highway, is celebrating a major milestone for any business.

The shop has actually been around for a few years but it came under new ownership last summer with Tappan who gives a new identity to old pieces of furniture.

She explained that Reclaim & Restore brings used and abandoned furniture back to life and finds a home where it will continue to be loved and appreciated.

Tappan restores these pieces by painting them, mainly with chalk-mineral paint.

Customers will find all sorts of furniture, from dressers and bedroom sets to servers, TV stands, vintage furniture and high-end pieces obtained at estate sales.

While the painted pieces are the more popular ones, customers also have the option to purchase unpainted pieces to work on themselves or they may choose a color from the selection in the shop and have them painted by Tappan.

Reclaim & Restore also carries accessories and home-related goods such as chandeliers, throw pillows, knobs, accent pieces and chalk paint among others.

The shop is currently open Wednesdays to Friday from 11a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 11a.m. to 4 p.m.

Reclaim & Restore will also bring back its painting classes in the late fall.
