    Louis Del Vecchio, 85 years old, died after a short illness at Hackensack Medical Center in Hackensack, N.J., on Monday, Nov. 9, 2015. Born to Silvio and Amelia Del Vecchio in South Hackensack, N.J., where he was raised and lived before moving to Hackensack, N.J., for 2 years and then to Vernon Twp., N.J., 8 years ago.

    Louis served with the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War and then worked as a roofer and sider for many years and retried from Valley Brook Golf Course in Paramus, N.J., as a Range Officer. He was an avid golfer and gardener and a doting grandfather and great grandfather.

    Louis was predeceased by a sister, Sylvia Uzzalino and a brother, Eugene Del Vecchio and was the beloved husband for 42 years of Monica Del Vecchio(nee Carlucci) of Vernon Twp., NJ. Devoted father of twins, Louis and Lonnie Del Vecchio of Milford, Pa., Kenneth and his wife, Debra, of Worcester, N.Y., Bobbi Jo McLachlan and her husband, Scott, of Vernon Twp., N.J., and Diona Canal and her husband, Moises, of Vernon Twp., N.J. Dear brother of Marie Castellano and her husband, Al, of Maywood, N.J. Brother-in-law of Joan Del Vecchio of South Hackensack, N.J.. Cherished by 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

    The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, N.J., on Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015, from 3-7 p.m. Funeral service will commence at the funeral home after the visitation at 7 p.m. Cremation is private.
