John Russell, Jr., age 88, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 5, at his residence while surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Russell was peacefully reunited with his beloved wife. Born in Sussex to the late John Russell, Sr. and Iva (Van Etten) Russell, Mr. Russell was a lifelong resident of Sussex County. He worked alongside his wife, Bertha on their dairy farm during their 67 years of marriage. Mr. Russell and his wife enjoyed traveling and thoroughly loved their time in Hawaii, which was their favorite place to tour.
Family was very important to him and he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Russell was a member of the New Jersey Farm Bureau and he enjoyed watching baseball. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Bertha M. Russell on Oct. 19, 2013. Mr. Russell is survived by his devoted sons, John E. Russell of Unionville, New York, Bruce A. Russell and his wife, Pam, Dwayne L. Russell and his wife, Paula, and Carl D. Russell and his wife, Dawn, all of Wantage; his loving daughters, Sharon Kardos and her husband, John, Jeanette Hovey and her husband, John, and Joann Russell all of Wantage; his sister, Lillian Conklin of Hamburg; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren. Private cremation services have been entrusted to the Pinkel Funeral Home, 31 Bank Street (Route 23), Sussex. A celebration of life will be held for the family at a later date with a private family inurnment at Clove Cemetery.
