    Herbert Courtright, 79 years old, died at St. Anthony’s Hospital, Warwick, N.Y., on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016. Born to Lawrence and Sara Courtright in Franklin, N.J., he lived in McAfee for the past 53 years.
    Herbert served with the United States Army National Guard and Army Reserve from 1954 to 1963 and worked as a lab technician for Ames Rubber Corp. in Hamburg, N.J., for 46 years retiring in 2001. He was a Life, Exempt and 53-year-member of the McAfee Fire Department serving as chief in 1969 and 2005–06. Herbert was a life member of the New Jersey State Fireman’s Association, member of the New Jersey State Exempt Fireman’s Association, the New Jersey Fire Chief’s Association and the Sussex County Fire Police. Herbert was a QuarterMaster for the Queen Village Queens All Girl Drum & Bugle Corp. from Warwick, N.Y. for 16 years.
    Herbert is predeceased by his wife Ida Mae Courtright (2006) and is the devoted father of Robin Williamson and her partner, Bob Search of McAfee, N.J., and Kelly Ross and her husband, Bucky, of Vernon, N.J. Loving grandfather of Cassandra Williamson, Hailey Ross and step grandson Brion Ross of Hampton Twp., N.J.
    The family will receive their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, N.J., on Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. McAfee Fire Dept Service is Monday, 7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the McAfee Fire Department, P.O. 841, McAfee, NJ 07428.
