    Lawrence Edward Martin passed away peacefully on Friday August 19, 2016, at Haines City Health Care Facility in Haines City, Fla.
    Lawrence was born in Sussex, N.J., on Oct. 24, 1926. He resided in Sussex for many years before moving to Davenport, Fla., in 1983. He was predeceased by his parents, Helen and George Martin Sr., his brother, James Martin, and his daughter Carol Hazelton.
    Lawrence grew up with his family in Sussex. He served in the United Sates Navy from 1944-46 during World War II. He also worked at his father’s well drilling business, eventually taking it over, and worked successfully running it for over 20 years. After selling the family business, he became a salesman for Dunn & Dunn Well Drilling. Years later, he relocated to Florida, and worked at Old Town in Kissimmee, before retiring.
    He was a member of the American Legion Post #213. He loved music and love to dance. He was an avid dog lover, particularly boxers, and owned several throughout his lifetime. He was a proud father and grandfather and shared many happy memories when his family came to Florida to visit over the years.
    He is survived by his loving companion of 29 years, Gail Wilson of Davenport, Fla., grandson Matthew Hazelton and his wife Amy, of North Haven, CT; brother George Martin and his wife, Betty, of Sussex, NJ, niece Beth Martin and nephew Glen Martin.
