NEWTON — The Sussex Stags defeated the Watertown Red & Black, 31-23, on Saturday, Oct. 15.
The Empire Football League semipro contest took place at Newton High School in Newton.
Next on the Sussex Stags 'to do' list is try to win the championship game. And they will attempt against the undefeated Syracuse Strong who have already beaten them twice this season.
The Empire Football League Championship game will take place in Syracuse, N.Y., on Saturday, Oct. 22.
