Mary F. Ernst

Mary F. Ernst (nee Nichols), 90 years old, died peacefully at her residence on Friday, Dec. 2, 2016. Mary was born Oct. 4, 1926, to Frank and Mary Nichols in Staten Island, N.Y. where she lived before moving to Lake Wallkill, Vernon Twp., N.J. in 1970. Mary and her husband, Hank “Sarge” Ernst have been members of the Lake Wallkill community since 1957.
Mary managed the Lake Wallkill Community office for 42 years distributing badges and performing other community duties. She retired in 2012. Mary always had an Angel on her shoulder and some will remember her collection and love for Bears of all kinds.
Mary is predeceased by her husband, Hank Ernst (1999) and is the devoted mother of Carol E. Snyder and her husband, Charles, of Mount Dora, Fla., and Lorraine E. Mann of San Diego, Calif., dear sister-in-law of Lawrence Ernst and his wife, Isabel of Staten Island, N.Y.
The family received their friends at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home, 241 Route 94 (1 Vanderhoof Court for GPS), Vernon, N.J., on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016, from 3-6 p.m. Funeral service was Monday, Dec. 5, 2016, at 11 a.m. Interment followed at Clove Cemetery, Wantage Twp., N.J.
