Herbert F. Clark, 81, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday December 11, 2016. Herbert was born on July 9, 1935 to the late William and Muriel (nee Peters) Clark in Hamburg, and lived in Vernon the past 55 years.
Herbert was a retired NJ State Trooper beginning his career in 1963. Prior to his retirement in 1989, he attained the rank of Captain. Upon his retirement, he continued working for the Office of the Attorney General, Department of Law and Public Safety until 1996. Herbert enjoyed many camping trips with his family, hunting and wood working; he was a member of the Former New Jersey State Troopers Association and the Samaritan Lodge. Herbert was a parishioner of St. Jude the Apostle RC Church.
He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Thomas, and his brothers, Harold M. Clark and Alan W. Clark.
Herbert is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Ann B. (nee Burrows) Clark, and his children, Cindy Snook and her husband, Edward, of Vernon, Patti Ahern and her husband Steve of Wantage, Brian Clark and his wife Valerie of Wantage, and Barbara Decker and her husband, Brian, of Vernon. In addition, he is survived by his brother Alvin R. Clark of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and his cherished grandchildren, Melissa Kemple, Lauren Snook, Timothy O’Brien, Brian Clark, Dylan Clark, Casey Decker and Whitney Decker, and his great grandchildren, Madyson and Olivia Randall, Kaydence and Lydia O’Brien, and Annalisa Kemple.
Relatives and friends will be received at Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home 241 Rt. 94, Vernon, NJ (GPS use 1 Vanderhoof Court) on Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. All are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial service on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m. at St. Jude the Apostle RC Church, Hamburg, N.J., the committal service to follow at North Hardyston Cemetery.
