Larry Hennecke, 67, of Vernon, passed peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, in the loving presence of his family. Larry was born in Englewood, N.J., to George and Florence Hennecke. Growing up in Ridgefield Park, he was an all-star baseball player. He married JoAnn in 1978 and they moved to Vernon in 1983 where they put down roots. He was an electrician by trade who retired in 2011.
Larry was an avid gardener who inherited a passion for growing flowers and vegetables from his father. He could often be seen in cut-off jean shorts tending to his elaborate garden. Larry enjoyed hiking, kayaking, and being outdoors. He was a lifelong bowhunter who also appreciated the craftsmanship of bow making.
A man whose sense of humor touched all who knew him, Larry was a merry prankster with incredible wit. He would also perform elaborate pectoral dances to the delight of his audiences. Larry was a loving husband and father who dedicated his life to taking care of his family. His pride and joy were his two grandsons, Jack and Max who expanded his heart tenfold.
He requested no service. His family requests that you hold him in your hearts.
Larry is remembered by his wife of 38 years, JoAnn; son, Craig and his wife, Megan, of Oregon; daughter Jennifer and her husband, Chris of Vermont; and brother Bill of Colorado. He is also remembered by extended family, friends, and neighbors.
