The Vernon Township High School Athletics Dept. announced its athletes of the week for Week 8 of the winter season.

Senior Swimmer Emily Rothamel is a 4-year varsity participant.

This past weekend she capped off her tremendous career at the Sussex County Swim championships. She brought home a Silver Medal in the 500-Freestyle and a Bronze Medal in the 100-Backstroke. Emily is a 2-year captain of the Girls Swim Team and she is a County Record-holder.

According to Coach Baldwin, Emily understands dedication, commitment and the hard work that is necessary to compete at such a high level. She will be deeply missed by her teammates and Coach. She is destined for great things in college.

Senior Roman Moss has had an outstanding start to his wrestling season. He is currently 18-9 and recently pinned all of his opponents at a Quad Match at VTHS against West Milford, North Warren and Chatham. Roman is one of the team captains this season. According to Coach Gocklin, he is a very focused and driven individual.

Roman always pushes his teammates in practice and is always willing to assist with the less-experienced wrestlers. He has been a great leader all season and is a tremendous role model for the younger kids.
