Dr. Ammon C. Roth Jr., 91, joined his ancestors at 4:30 a.m. on the morning of Nov. 22, 2017.
He died at home in hospice care with his wife of 45 years after several months of loving care from his family and wonderful folks at Karen Ann Quinlan hospice.
He touched many hearts and minds through his years as a Professor of Psychology at Upsala College East Orange, and the Wirth Campus in Sussex. Many lifelong friends will miss his Counsel and voice and laughter and love.
His loved ones describe his kind, gentle and loving energy and his eyes that displayed the brilliance of his spirit.
Ammon served in the United Sates Army during WWII. Important to his son is that all freedom loving people remember his sacrifice in WW II during the Battle of the Bulge he received wounds ending his dream of becoming a surgeon. He saved many lives anyway.
Ammon was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Joyce McCurdy and Phyllis Schmoyer.
He leaves his wife Cheryl Roth, his daughter Peggy Longwell, his son Tom Roth and two living sisters Gloria Dialectic and Marjorie Schneck. His son-in-law, John Longwell, grandson, Ian Longwell and great -grandchildren, Jade and Elijah Longwell, daughter-in-law Paton Roth, grandchildren, Stephanie and Kristina Roth, and brother-in-law, David Schmoyer, will remember him always.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday Dec. 9, for details contact the family. Donations in his memory should be made to your local food bank or the charity of your choice as it was Ammon’s desire to help hungry people be fed.
