Patricia A. (Woods) Smith of Lake Wallkill in Vernon passed away peacefully on Friday, April 27, 2018, at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, to the late John and Ann (Riordan) Woods. Pat worked as a secretary to the deputy director of personnel for the NY Port Authority before leaving to raise six children. She was married to her husband, Jim, for 59 years.
She was predeceased by her daughter Donna Marie, sister Cecelia Parise and brother John Woods.
She is survived by her husband Jim; children, Bob and wife Janet, Tom and wife Nancy, daughter Kerry and husband Fred Mayer, Dave and wife Elise, and Jim and wife Michele; sisters Mary Puca and husband Augie, Ann Woods, Therese Costello and husband Jerry; her friend of 66 years, Rosemary DenBleyker and husband Lenny; brother-in-law John Parise; 15 grandchildren, Darrell Ann, Meredith (fiancé Stephen Siefert) and Emily Smith, Taylor, Darby and Madalyn Smith, Sara and Ryan (wife Caitlyn) Mayer, Hannah, Jack, Ella and Chris Smith, Megan (husband Paul Brooks Jr.), Heather and Adam Smith; and many nieces and nephews.
Pat was in business with Rosemary DenBleyker as Eseary North for many years while the children were growing up.
Beyond her family, Pat most enjoyed gardening and a love for plants and flowers. She also enjoyed singing and for over 30 years was a member of Harmony In Motion, a women’s chorus, as well as being a member of a quartet, The Musical Exchange, with Pat Berger on lead, Ruth Perry on Tenor, Betty Martin on baritone and Pat on bass. She was musical director of Harmony In Motion for 10 Years.
Pat and Jim enjoyed spending time in Hawaii for more than 20 years, splitting their visits between Maui and Kauai with their treasured friends.
Relatives and friends will be received on May 6 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home 241 Rt. 94, Vernon, NJ (GPS use 1 Vander Hoof Court), and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on May 7 at 10 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales RC Church, 614 Rt. 517, Vernon, with interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
