Charles E. “Mike” Conklin, 84, passed away on Friday June 22, 2018. Mike was born in and lived most of his life in Sussex and the last 15 years in Montague. Mike was born on Aug. 29, 1933 to James and Minnie (VanGorden) Conklin.
Mike was an electrician by trade and was employed by the County of Sussex as a Mantainence Supervisor for 27 years retiring in 2003. He was a volunteer Sussex Firemen and a Past Chief and an Exempt Firemen, and a Past Commander of the American Legion Post 213, Sussex. Mike enjoyed golf, shooting pool, playing cards with friends, hunting and fishing, when not doing one of those favorites he was found in the kitchen cooking or outside grilling.
Mike was predeceased by his parents, he was one of eleven and eight of his siblings have passed.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Nicolina (Russano) Conklin, and his two sisters, Vivian Straway of Newton and Shirley Strong of Sandyston and his many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will be received on Monday, June 25, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Ferguson Funeral Home 27 Third Street, Sussex, NJ and are invited to attend funeral services at the funeral home on Tuesday June 26th at 10 a.m., interment at Clove Cemetery.
