Black Bear hosts Bourbon, BBQ party

If you think that the attraction of the popular Bourbon & BBQ Event at the Black Bear Golf Club are primarily related to playing golf you would be wrong.
Some would call them a “Golf Plus” experience, but it is even more. Determining the BIG attraction to these sell out events would be difficult. Is it golf? Is it the delicious food? Is it the fun games and contests? Is it the great music by the Stereo Junkies featuring Andrea Nies? Is it the free golf instruction and demos? Is it the attractive cost of $20 that includes all of these fun activities and all you can eat barbeque feast and $39 if you want to include the 9 n Dine Golf Tournament? If you said “yes” to any of these choices, or all, you would probably be right.
If you said the food was the big attraction it may because the event offers an “all you can eat” BBQ feast that includes a whole pig on a spit cooked in the smoker along with chicken, lamb, alligator (which tasted better than chicken bits), corn, burgers & dogs with all the fixings, to be topped off with chocolate chip cookies for dessert. All of this to be washed down by cold $3 beers, free Bourbon tasting and other beverages of choice.
Of course golf is a part of this fun late afternoon evening event. A 9 n Dine golf tournament is played beginning with a shotgun start following a 4-golfer team scramble format. The scramble team with the lowest score was declared the winner and awarded a prize at the BIG Tuesday celebration.
The Men’s closest to the pin winner was Kory Rosenberg. Karen Zelinski won the Lady’s Closest to the Pin with Jessica DeFumeri taking Longest Drive honors for the Ladies and Steve Ashton winning Longest Drive for the Men.
The BIG Tuesday was a lot more than a golf tournament. The party included a variety of competitions including Dartboard Golf, Foot Golf, a Putting Contest, and a Long Drive contest all to the great music provided by the Stereo Junkies featuring Andrea Nies. Those interested in improving their golf game could also demo new golf clubs from Taylormade and Callaway Golf and get free instruction from the pros Nick and Ted.
