VTHS honors outstanding athletes

The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. honored its outstanding athletes for week 2 of the winter 2018 semester.
Senior Brietta Patterson was pivotal in the varsity girls basketball teams win over Wallkill Valley over the Holiday break. Brietta finished the game with 8 points and 5 steals. This was the second win for the Vikings over Wallkill Valley this year.
According to first year Head Coach Stephanie Peterson, Bri is a defensive threat and leads the team in steals with 18. She is also our biggest threat from behind the arc, with 6 3-pointers on the year.
Brietta is also a member of the varsity girls track and field team in the spring.
Sophomore Zach Mabee bowled his first career 600 series against Wallkill Valley this past week. He had a career high game of 242 along with a 182 and 203 to total a 629.
The Vikings are currently 2-4 on the season with wins over Newton and High Point.
According to Coach Panfile, Zach’s focus on detail when it comes to his mechanics makes his presence on the team invaluable. He provides peer support and helpful tips at the alley.
