Vernon youth cheer squad sweeps N.J. events

VERNON — The Vernon Pony Competition Cheer Squad (ages 6-9), were nothing short of dominant finishing their season undefeated.
The athletes, competing in the Level 1 division, absolutely excelled their way to winning 1st place at all five of the New Jersey events they entered.
The team consisting of 13 girls – competed regionally at competitions in Voorhees, West Milford, Randolph, Wildwood and Sparta and went undefeated in all competitions.
“The team was very determined and had a great work ethic and focus considering their age,” said Jen Baumann, head coach for the team.
“I'm so proud of this group of athletes and their dedication throughout the season," Vernon Youth cheer director Kim Bruno said. "Their effort, enthusiasm, and strong foundation of skills at their age is impressive and showed through in all their performances. I can't wait to see what the future holds for this group of girls as they grow in our program together.
Vernon cheer team members are Aeriana Braden, Brielle MacLean, Carolyn Rugel, Evan Toll, Julia Choros, Kaitlyn Walker, Lauren Mikulik, Liliana Kohler, Lily Huff, Paisley Stevens, Payton Karwoski, Penelope Barbero, Reese Baumann. Coaches include Jen Baumann, Danielle Kohler, Nancy Barbero, and Jordan Toll.
