James Alexander Blakely, age 77, quietly passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at his home. Born and raised in Paterson to the late Alexander and Margaret (Becsey) Blakely, James lived in Denville before moving to Vernon 45 years ago. Mr. Blakely was an industrial electrician and was employed by Oakanite in Paterson for many years. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan (Rapp); his son, David Blakely and his girlfriend Jeanne Lutzkow of Vernon; his daughter, Karen VanDyk and her husband Peter of Unionville, New York; his grandchildren, Johnathan and his wife Julia Blakely of Vernon, Matthew VanDyk of Huguenot, New York, and Katie Kintsel, her husband Preston and their daughter, Madason of Sparrowbush, New York; his brother, Alan and his wife Joan of Virginia; his brother-in-law, Kenneth Rapp of Morristown; his nephew, Steve Rapp and his wife Lori of Morristown; and several great nieces and nephews. A Celebration of James A. Blakely’s life will be held at the Glenwood Baptist Church, 1863 County Road 565, Glenwood, NJ 07418.
