The Vernon Township High School Athletic Dept. has named its outstanding athletes for Weeks 3 and 4 of the fall 2019 semester.

Week 3

Senior Juliette Ross went 4-1 last week for the varsity girls tennis team at second singles and 3 of those wins were in the first two rounds of the HWS (Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex) Tournament. She is the only Vernon player to ever win 3 matches in one day at the HWS.

According to Coach Miller, Juliette is our team leader, captain, and has made the season a memorable one for our tennis team.

Senior Chris Ruiz has been a leader on and off the course for the boys cross country team. Chris has placed first for Vernon in all races so far this season. He ran a season’s best last week at the Warwick Invitational and took first place overall in a meet with Kittatinny, Hopatcong and Jefferson.

According to Coach Shenise, Chris has worked very hard in the off-season and is a great role model for the younger kids in the program.

Week 4

Senior goalkeeper Emily Nitch of the varsity girls soccer team recorded 13 saves in a double overtime win over Newton last Saturday. It was her second shutout of the week.

According to Coach Carlson, it was Emily’s best performance this season. She was outstanding and helped the Vikes secure the win.

She works very hard every day and is committed to the girls soccer program.

Senior Collin Andriola had 22 carries for 202 yards and 3 touchdowns against Hackettstown last week. Collin is one of three captains for the varsity football team this year.

According to Coach Down, Collin’s off-season work ethic has made him stronger and faster this season. His endurance allows him to play both on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball. He is a large part of our offense and we expect more good things from Collin as the season goes on.
