Vernon — St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church will host a live auction beginning at 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 12 in the church’s community room located at 307 Route 94, in Vernon. A preview is scheduled at 7 p.m. Wine and cheese and coffee and desserts will be provided by the church. The event will include a collection of art work, gift baskets, collectibles, DVD player and DVDs, five pieces of Friar Folk whimsical figurines, raku ceramic pieces by Highland Lakes potter and ceramicist Agatha Wyman. Nancy Hansen, Linda Lazicki and Gale MacPeek are chairs of this event. Hansen said, “A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Harvest House in Sussex and local food pantries.” Harvest House serves the hungry each weekday and it was founded by Vernon Township High School students with the assistance of Paul Newman’s Newman’s Own Foundation. According to Father Robert Solon Jr., Vicar of St. Thomas, “It’s especially important in the cold of winter for the community to come together. St. Thomas’ is a sacred place that prays together, serves together, and plays together. It’s hard sometimes, believe it or not, to make sure we play enough together. I’m looking forward to a relaxing evening where we can do just that, and serve a good cause as well.” The cost for tickets is $5 per person. For reservations and more information, call 973-764-7506 or visit St. Thomas’ Web site is www.st-thomas-vernon.org.
