Newton-Charles Newman is a young artist from Vernon who has always been aware of different mediums of artistic expression. Newman began his studies as a music major, concentrating on jazz guitar at Rowan University, eventually changing his major to Studio Art studying under Daniel Chard. His fascination with natural scenes depicting the beauty of nature provides the sensitivity for him to express his concepts and feelings in his work. He continued his studies at the Scuola Lorenzo d'Medici in Florence where he studied painting restoration and photography as well as painting with teachers and students from all over the world. His travels in Europe exposed him to many influences all of which enabled him to broaden his horizons and his interpretation of his use of colors, tones, and subjects. Since graduation from college in 2002, he has had solo exhibitions in galleries at Millville, N.J. and last month was selected to exhibit his work in the Gaelen Gallery Juried Show at the JCC Metrowest in Whippany, which runs until June 13. He currently is participating in the Fine Arts Show at the Judicial Center in Newton and his work can also be seen at the Flying Pig Gallery in Sussex. His creativity and sense of reality in his approach to his works are reflective of his ideas and interpretations. A portfolio of his works can be seen at his website, charlienewmanart.com
