Benefit concert includes 10 bands
Vernon Ten local bands will participate in a benefit Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Rickey Farm on Route 94 called Long Live Rock. Admission is $5. Doors open at noon. The outdoor event includes a variety of local performers who are donation their time as well as featured performances by the Garage Band Kids. The show starts at about 1 p.m. Garage band takes the stage at 4 p.m. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the “Long Live Rock Scholarship fund” that helps children who would otherwise not be able to afford the Garage Band summer camp program. In addition, at the event, a 50/50 raffle will be held for the benefit of Kelly Cusack. Kelly Cusack was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a neuromuscular disease that causes motor neurons to degenerate, resulting in muscular weakness. Children afflicted with this condition are unable to stand and walk. Kelly is in desperate need of a wheelchair ramp for the condo where she lives. The raffle drawing will be held at about 6 p.m. At the concert, donations on her behalf will also be accepted. Snacks and food will be available throughout the day.
