Blowin' in the wind
Warwick, N.Y. The Warwick Valley Winery and Distillery will host its annual Bob Dylan tribute festival May 23 to 25 from noon to 6 p.m. on the winery’s outdoor stage. The festival is a continuation of the winery’s on going music series, “Uncorked and Unplugged in the Orchard.” Performers will be playing a mix of Dylan songs, paying homage to Dylan’s timeless music, said show officials, who added “attendees will see some great local musicians as well as some national recording artists all playing at one of the Hudson Valley’s prettiest music venues.” Aztec Two Step will make its first winery appearance on Saturday, May 23. The group will be joined on Saturday by Professor Louie and Crowmatix, Terrence Martin, local musicians Uncle Shoehorn, The Redden Brothers Band, Saturday Mighty Girl, Peter James, Eric Iversen, Steve DiVenuta, and The Dirty Stay Out Skifflers. Sunday performances will feature the Kennedys, Dylan festival veterans. Pete and Mora Kennedy have loyal followings in both the guitar pop camp and in the singer song writer set. Their ability to perform in a variety of styles ranging from “roots rock to soulful acoustic pop” has lead to their popularity across the country, said show officials. “Last year’s set was so good that we had to have them back,” said event organizer and co-owner Jeremy Kidde. “We also asked Professor Louie to come back to give Sunday that real festival feel.” Sunday’s lineup also includes Rod MacDonald, Caroline Doctrow, Project Mercury, and Marc Von Em. 2001 Grammy nominee Bill Kirchen will also appear on Sunday with the Kennedys, Rod Macdonald, the Redden Brothers Band, Elissa Jones, Tim O Donohue, Tony Vitello and Joe Mckay. Wine tastings, hard cider, and fruit brandies as well as food, and soft drinks will be available all weekend at the winery. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, and blankets, but please no coolers. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
