SPARTA — The Sparta Education Foundation hosted their Cabaret on the Boardwalk benefit event for the Sparta Public Schools at the Lake Mohawk Country Club. Approximately 200 guests enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and a chance to browse the items for the silent and live auction during cocktail hour. Items up for auction included sports memorabilia, jewelry, opportunities for students to be mayor or principal for the day, jewelry, an iPod, and tickets to Live with Regis and Kelly. Later they enjoyed dinner and dancing with music by DJ Sebastian Monte. According to Dan Corrigan, President of the Sparta Education Foundation, the group works closely with the schools to help raise funds to provide for the schools programs and equipment which the schools don’t have funding for. Other events sponsored by the group include the Turkey Trot, an annual golf outing, and the Pathways to Excellence Program (in which the purchase of an engraved brick paver in front of the Sparta Theatre benefits the organization). The Sparta Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) New Jersey Nonprofit Corporation. More information about the group can be found on its Web site at http://www.spartaeducationfoundation.org/.
