Christian rock band featured at church benefit

Newton — Awakening, a Christian Rock Band from Easton, Pa., will present a concert from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25 at the First United Methodist Church. Awakening is a professional group led by Adam Jared Tavolaro, former director of music ministries of the Newton church. Kathleen Meredith, of Andover, is a member of the band. The fundraiser is sponsored by the church’s ChristCare groups. This is an intergenerational event open to the public. Refreshments will be available at intermission. Ticket donations are $10 general, $5 students, $25 families and children under 5 free. Tickets will be sold in advance and at the door. The church is located at 111 Ryerson Ave., in Newton.
