Concert at Vernon library

    Vernon — The Friends of the Library, Dorothy E. Henry, will host a return engagement by 8 Strings and a Whistle, on Sunday, Oct. 25 .at 3 p.m. The trio of flute, viola and cello plays both traditional and original works, many of which have been composed for the trio. Very active throughout the northeast as well as New York City, the trio recently performed at the Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Symphony Space. Suzane Gilchrist, flutist, performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Ina Litera, violist, is an active freelance musician and chamber music player performing with the Stanford Symphony, the Eos Orchestra, the American Symphony Orchestra, Musica Sacra, The School of American Ballet Orchestra, the Connecticut Grand Opera, the Greenwich Symphony Orchestra and the Garden State Philharmonic. Matthew Goerke, cellist, performs as soloist, chamber musician and orchestra player in a board range of musical styles. He is a member of the Stanford Symphony, Musica Sacra, Eos Orchestra, The Cross Town Ensemble, SEM Ensemble, North/South Consonance and the Kitchen House Blend. The concert will take place in the Community Room of the library on Route 94, in Vernon, and is suitable for teens to adults. Admission is free with a reception to follow.
