Cooking class offered Crystal Springs Resort

| 25 Jun 2013 | 01:34

Crystal Springs Resort, New Jersey’s premier culinary destination, has begun offering summertime-specific cooking classes and free demonstrations for all ages.

Throughout the summer, Crystal Springs will offer an array of free demonstrations at Chef’s Garden that include experimenting with and creating new marinades, barbecuing with beer, roasting over an open fire, wood-firing bread and learning how to barbeque fruits and veggies straight from the garden. All demos are free to guests and public and begin at 10 a.m.

Crystal Springs is also offering more in-depth cooking classes for those looking to hone their culinary skills further. Classes include: “Edible Flowers in Desserts,” where Executive Pastry Chef John Sauchelli will demonstrate how edible flowers and herbs from the Chef’s Garden and Crystal Springs Farm can garnish any plate to add vibrancy and flavor; “The Shore Meets Highlands” with Chef Pat Duffy, who will explore expert ways to marry fresh products from the Jersey Shore to Crystal Springs’ own farm fields produce; and even “Techniques of Grilling and Smoking,” where students will be taught the difference between smoking woods by Crystal Springs Executive Chef Tim Fischer.

In hopes to create mini master chefs, too, Crystal Springs Resort has also added a series of children’s cooking classes like designing their own wood-fired pizza and making pasta and sauce from scratch — then eating it all.

Crystal Springs even has a “Family Class and Culinary Adventure,” where families will fish on a mountaintop lake with Executive Chef Tim then enjoy a lakeside lunch over a campfire.

Cooking classes vary in price and typically include a tasting or three-course meal.
