sparta -The Lake Mohawk Country Club's Boardwalk in Sparta will once again be transformed and decorated during the first weekend in December into a busy Weihnachtsmarkt - German Christmas Market - that will showcase vendors offering unique Christmas items. Tantalizing smells will emanate along the often frozen Lake Front, as traditional food items from sizzling German sausages and hot roasted nuts to the warmed mulled spiced wine, (Gluhwein), are prepared amongst the festive chorus's of local school choirs and local entertainers. The continued generosity of the Lake Mohawk Country Club for the use of this unique setting allows a group of volunteers to organize this unique event. Money raised will be distributed to Big Brother Big Sister of Sussex County and the German Language Departments of the Sparta and Lenape Valley School Districts. The committee has been planning the event since February and continues to solicit donations of time, expertise or money from either individuals or organizations and businesses. Those wishing to contribute should call 973 462 5152, or send a letter to The German Weihnachtsmarkt, c/o 70 Westgate Drive, Sparta, NJ 07871. Potential vendors should E-mail germanchristmasmarket@earthlink.net.
