Bob Heimall of Vernon won first prize in the professional photography category at the 40th annual Promenade Art Show held last month in Cape May. The award, Heimall said, was especially meaningful because he also won first prize in this contest 25 years ago. Bob's photographs of Cape May and Sussex County capture his passion for "impressionistic" painting and photography of the two towns where has lived and maintained studios for most of his life. "This was such an exciting win for me, as I had not shown my art at a juried art show in 25 years," said Heimall. "It is very gratifying to be recognized in my creative field." Heimall attended Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts, and after a brief stint in the advertising field, found his perfect niche in the recording industry. Robert L. Heimall: Art Direction has been the credit on thousands of record album and book covers for artists including the Door's, Carly Simon, Bread, Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, Judy Collins, The Outlaws and John Lennon. Heimall was named the youngest ever art director for Elektra Records and has been featured on "60 Minutes" and "Dateline." He also worked for Arista Records. His work on album covers garnered many awards, including being named in Rolling Stone Magazine's "Top 100 Album Covers of All Time" collection, which is on permanent display at The California Museum of Science and Industry "Electronic Media Exhibit."
