West Milford — The Pinecliff Lake Community Club is hosting a moderately paced, five-mile hike to West Milford’s scenic wonder, Terrace Pond, on Saturday, June 20, at 9 a.m. This family-friendly hike meets in front of the Pinecliff Lake clubhouse on Union Valley Road and is open to adults and children aged nine years and older. Led by author/guide Don Weise, normally known for faster hikes, the hike is designed specifically for those who do not hike regularly or are new to hiking. “Everyone should have the chance to explore the wild side of West Milford, not just hardcore hikers,” said Weise. “You’ve got to experience Terrace Pond and all the attractions around it.” Colorful cliffs, clear blue mountaintop waters, bird’s eye views of High Point and Manhattan, giant rhododendrons, blooming mountain laurel and abundant wildlife are some of the highlights of the hike. The cost is $8 for non-members and $4 for Pinecliff Lake community members. For more hike details and directions, e-mail donweise@hotmail.com or call 973-728-3183.
