    NEWTON-More than 100 people attended the First Friday Art Opening at the Sussex County Arts & Heritage Center on June 4. The theme of the exhibit was The Garden State. More than 90 pieces of original art are on display and for sale, including oils, acrylics, watercolors, stained glass and mixed media. There are also more than 100 portfolio pieces ranging in price from $10 to $100. The exhibit will show through June 30. The opening reception was sponsored by Olde Lafayette Village Shops in Lafayette. Also on display and for raffle are handmade birdhouses, plants and garden related items. Raffle tickets are $5 each or three for $12. Items can be bid on through June 30. The drawing will be at noon on June 30 at the Arts Center Gallery. The Arts Center Gallery, at 9 Moran St., Newton, is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday; and from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
