Sparta — The Sparta Friends & Neighbors Club recently presented $2,000 to Sparta Parks & Recreation for the new Kids Kastle. The money was raised at the annual Holiday Auction held in December 2008. This was a live bidding auction where items donated by local merchants and club members were auctioned off. The club would like to thank the generous community for once again supporting its efforts to raise money for local charities. A total of $3,700 was raised and divided amongst the new Kids Kastle, People Help and the Sparta Dog Park. The check for Kids Kastle was accepted by Ginny Mohr, director of parks & recreation and Donna Jenkins, program supervisor. Parks & recreation needs to raise a total of $125,000 before they can purchase the materials for the new Kids Kastle. They are approximately $25,000 short of their goal.
