Friends of the Groom coming to Vernon church

What happens if Sam Spade from The Maltese Falcon met the Apostle Peter from the New Testament? What might happen if you really prayed The Lord’s Prayer? You can find out when the internationally acclaimed theatre company Friends of the Groom performs for one night only, Sept. 21, at St Thomas Episcopal Church, Vernon.
Since 1980, from Anchorage to Athens, Boston to Beijing, and Jacksonville to Jerusalem, the Cincinnati based actors have proclaimed the Christian message with a blend of humor, story, challenging content, and scenes that are hard to forget. “What a pleasure to see liturgical drama that is good theater,” says the Cincinnati Inquirer.
“I’ve followed these guys for 30 years,” says the Rev. Dr. Howard Whitaker. “We started out together, and they made an indelible mark on my ministry. We at St. Thomas’ are grateful to be able to present them to the community.”
The single performance will be Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 7:30 p.m. Ticket information can be found at the church’s website st-thomas-vernon.org. This show is expected to sell out, so advance ticket purchase is highly recommended. The appearance is part of the legacy celebration for St. Thomas. The congregation will cease operation at the end of October.
